Flat Roof Detail

Hi All,

If you look at the attached images of my brothers bungalow rear extension flat roof you can see that there is a piece of felt not attached to anything leaving a big gap for water to get in. I can only think that this may of been attached to the verge at some point. Can anyone advise the best way to deal with this, if it was heated up could it be reattached to the verge and wall or does it need cutting out and a new piece putting in. Even if it is reattached it doesn't look the best way to stop water getting in that runs down the verge. Any ideas appreciated.

In reality, the bottom say four rows of tiles should be removed, the battens and membrane lifted and the roof material should be 'trayed' down to the gutter and then the roof put back. At the moment it's a bodge. Some roofers might leave the bottom course of tiles on and felt onto those, but this will make those above kick.

The battens can be trimmed underneath a wee bit, if the flat roof material build up is causing too much kick. However the flat roofer only need apply one layer here, for convenience.

Thats a good idea. How many tiles should the flat roof material cover. Do you think this is something he could do himself? I've got access to a plumbers blow torch or a heat gun.
