Hi.

My structural engineer has specified my flat roof on my extension as below to house my 2 roof lanterns. Each "beam" is made up from 2 x 200x63 C24 timber. What he doesn't state is if these need to be connected together somehow. I would ask him but we have had a falling out (He won't recalculate a more suitable beam without charging) :(

So the questions is. Do they need to be connected together, and if so how? Thanks in advance.

Yes, they should be fixed so that they work together. Clamp them together and drive some 100 screws through from opposite sides, say at 250-300 centres.
