I'm looking at creating a mezzanine level in my living room.
The floor space would be at 4500mm in length by 2500mm in depth. And I'll be looking at having a glass floor up there.
The plan I've devised is to have a spiral staircase leading up to the glass floor that would be supported by rsj's. The main one that goes across the length of the wall (4500mm). This will be supported by 3 running down to the floor; 1 on each end and 1 in the middle, at a height of 2600mm. Then have 3 connected at the joint of the main one coming out 2500mm.

My query would be: What size RSJs would I need? And do you recommend any nice suitable glass floors?

Thanks in advance people. Hope you can ease my headache from my missus! ;)

I think that this is best left to a specialist firm who can take care of the whole job including engineers calcs and the like. It is not an easy or straightforward job , nor is it a cheap one so be prepared for a lot of spending.
