All,
I have read many posts on this and just want to make sure I am not going to cause any problems before I start the project (damp, wood rot, cold bridging).
I am planning on installing loft insulation between the joists of my downstairs suspended timber floor, we have a cellar so access is easy. My queries are as follows:-
Do I install the glass fibre right up against the floor boards between the joists (I plan to use chicken wire/plastic mesh to support it), or do I leave an air gap for a better U value and close the gap at the side walls.
Whatever the method of installation do I place the insulation up to and against the outer walls? If there are gaps between the longitudinal joists at the side wall do I fill this too?
Is there a depth limit for the glass fibre or can I install the glass fibre to the same depth as the joists?
Many thanks in advance.
