Hi

I'm in the process of renovating a grade 2 listed cottage and have had to replace the whole ground floor with 22mm floorboards on planed 175x50 timber joists spanning 3 metres at 450mm ctrs (building regs specified 150 x 50)

The floorboards are exposed from below, the basement, which is to be used as a bedroom (with means of escape via a window). This is to recreate the original feel as i had to remove exposed timber joists/center beam.

On my final building inspection i was advised that there wasn't 30mins fire resistance and have a couple of options:-
1 - fix plasterboard to the underneath of the joists
2 - batton plasterboard between joists
3 - apply a 'fire resistent' paint

My question is this - what is the calculation to determine the fire resistance and do i have any other options?

Thanks

Tim

doesnt matter does it?

buling bloke ony gave you 3 options, use on of them.

If you opt for something else or something he does not know about, i bet he will fail it.

He also never said you cant paint the plasterboard, so if you dont like the colour you can paint it
