Need some good advice re best insulation for floor. I have a bedroom over a garage, which has now been converted to a bedroom/bathroom for my parents. Problem is, the floor between us is not insulated at all. I have been advised to get some rockwool rw45 (100mm thick) and today, to use rw3, as the rw45 is not as good with sound. However, the chap advocating the rw3 said that either way it will not eradicate sound that well.
Can anyone advise? The difference in cost is around £100 more for the rw3 which is denser. I need enough for 47 square metres.
The noise problem is voices, doors shutting, toilet flushing, tv and general noise from daily living. Thanks.
