I'm about to install a heatpak floating floor (like Jumpax) with two layers of MDF that end up bonded to each other. The instructions say I can either go over hte entire floor whacking it with a mallet, which I dont like the sound of, or use a 75Kg roller - which sounds much quicker and easier.

Trouble is I can't seem to find anyone with one of these for hire - I've seen a few for sale and they aren't cheap. Does anyone know a hire company that have these?

LOL, well fed maybe! The system works on a pressure sensitive/contact adhesive, the more you walk on it the better it grabs! If you are doing a massive area lets say 20 meters plus then a roller would be the best method to ensure contact over the boards. But as your doing yourself i would guess it will be a small area and most diy people spend alot longer walking around on the floor scratching there head. A pro would wack most the floor out without walking on it very much so would advice a roller.
