Hi

Recently put down large stone floor tiles in the bathroom and laid an tile floor heating system as well. All well and good until noticed that two tile are not flat and now cracked the grout etc. Reason we think is because of the thermostat wire that we laid (quite thick wire) and didn't make allowance for the extra height and resulted in the tiles being raised.

Question is how best to remove tile and make a trough into the adhesive so that the wire can lay flat??

Is adhesive easy to remove once it has set onto the ext plywood we laid?

Any advice greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

The adhesive is Wickes floor and grout stuff, been down now for 5 days or so.

Thanks for reply!

with wickes stuff they should come up quite easily. was it tile on wood ? to be honest no decent tiler would use any adhesive from DIY shops. i would recommend you go to your local tile shop and they will tell you what they recommend.you need a flexable adhesive because of movement in the heating cables and the ply. then serate your adhesive do it either side of your cable which should counter act any height difference in the cables.

Ditto the above. Wickes adesive should come up no probs. Advantage is it will also come off the floor easily too. Whereas the pricey stuff will ot as easily. Wickes stuff should just crumble away.

However whether you use expensive adsheive or not the tile is still gonna break. Smash it up carfully and take out pieces. Use screwdriver or old chisel to prise them up.

Plywood base is more likely at least 18mm. So if the wire is indeed the problem then dig a channel for it in the ply. THen replace tile as per usual.

Wickes stuff is rubbish!! Just reached the end of the bucket doing the final tiles and lo and behold off they come not long after putting up!

Loss of stickyness is deeply annoying (this for the wall tiles!)

Will hoy off to tile specilaist and see what they recommend as adhesive of choice.

Cheers
