Hi, hope you're all well!
I have a single skin brick utility on the side of my house (built in the 50s). There is a damp proof course however it does not cover the first layer of bricks. This is extending the damp coming through into the floor a bit.I have attached a picture below.
Doing some reading, I understand if you have a damp floor you can cover in a DPM (either liquid or a sheet) and then put your floor on top.
Could I use the same principal but extend the DPM up and over the first layer of brick (add a skirting to cover it) without causing any additional problems?
If so, would it be advisable to leave the top of the DPM 'open' or seal it to the wall?
Thanks in advance!
Alex
