Hi there, i'm currently having a conservatory built which will be continous through from my kitcken and I'm having a vinyl flooring. What, if any, is the best way to insulate a concrete floor before having the vinyl put down.
Thanks.

Vinyl flooring needs a good solid base to fix onto so you can't really introduce an insulating layer. The only thing you can do is put down a timber subfloor onto the concrete but this would mean raising the height of your floor.
You could use an acoustic backed vinyl or a domestic cushioned vinyl with a thick backing.
However if your extension is centrally heated you shouldn't find the floor too cold. If it isn't centrally heated and its a conservatory with lots of glass then I would think twice about using vinyl. Vinyl doesn't stand up too well to the extreme changes in temperature you will get and it will shrink and curl up at the edges through time.

the insulation should have been put into the slab when it was laid.

Thanks, I'm having a good quality thick vinyl laid anyway so it should be ok. The conservatory will have a dwarf wall and there will also be heating added later, so exposure to temperature extremes should be minimal.
