i'm replacing the flue on my stove and the pipe i ordered (125mm bore) sits as below in the collar

is this packable with fire cement - the one i took out sat a few mm closer to the collar is all?

So the new pipe is a slightly smaller diameter than the old pipe?

Yes, bit of rope and fire cement would seal it.

Interesting point on one of the diy stove fitting websites (can't remember which one) tiny gaps in the flue aren't an issue, instead of leaking out gases, they draw air through, as the main flue is much bigger. Obvs best practice to seal it though.

You can also get self adhesive webbing for flues, a wrap or two around the pipe should make a tighter fit.
