Fluidmaster flush valve won't close, so keeps emptying into the bowl after flush

My fluidmaster flush valve won't close after the toilet is flushed.

It seems the valve doesn't drop back down after the cistern has emptied. I've taken it out and cleaned it. The valve can move and I can stop the cistern draining by manual pushing the valve down but it won't drop down on its own.

I know a replacement valve will fix the issue. Just wondering if there's a simple fix before I go out and get the replacement.

Cheers.

Take the washer off and turn it over, if that doesn't work then buy a new one.

Andy

Took washer off, gave it a scrub under the tap. Inevitably forgot which way round it was originally, refitted it and hey presto, no leak!

Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
