Directly in front of my front window, where I am staying, is a large buddleia bush, obviously loved by cabbage white flutterbys. I've never seen so many, all at one time - a guess at around two dozen. Weirdly - they all seem to take off simultaneously, and all land on the bush simultaneously.

Lots of butterflies this year, maybe the hotter weather. Don’t see cabbage whites around buddleia anywhere as much as I used to though.

Be aware they're watching you, Harry.

Yep the warming climate is a massive boon for insects and therefore crop pollination and wildlife that live off the insects and so on and so forth. Plants are also thriving.

WRONG

Aveatry thinks more extreme weather is good for plants and insects.

Evidence indicates climate change has lowered insect numbers.

It is good to see warm weather this year has lead to lots of butterflies, even if overall trend is down

I usually see Red Admirals all over 'em, occasionally ushering 'em out the shed door when they've taken a wrong turn. Only, one of ;em blundered into a spider's web t'other day and there was nothing i could do but watch it struggle. I swear i could hear it squeaking "help me" help me!" They may look pretty but lousy navigators they do make.

Yep, I see more red admirals than cabbage whites
