In January we had a toilet blockage. Had to get a local drain clearing firm to unblock it using the high pressure hose/camera etc which resolved it. However, at the time we did not know that the jet had dislodged the soil pipe from the toilet main outlet pipe?? Subsequently after a few MONTHS a very nasty odour was obvious throughout the bathroom/hall area?
Cut a long story short, our bathroom fitter/plumber lifted the trap and was met by the worst stink I have known..he bravely refitted the pipes and secured them, and the waste that should have gone down the pipes was left to dissipate into the earth of the foundations. The smell has gone, but we are noticing a lot of very small flies appearing in the kitchen (next to the affected area) and on the air vent outside the bathroom/kitchen. Luckily the weather has been quite cold recently, had it been hot it could be worse, but any suggestions short term on how to attack the problem..??
Thanks.

Yeah, see where you're coming from; rather think that the matter needs resolving at source? e.g.under the floorboards, but will bear that item in mind..thanks for taking the time to respond Andy!
