Hi All

I've just taken on a new yard and it has an acros building. The roof is made from old asbestos cement corougated tiles.

I'm wondering if we can spray the undersides to insulate the building a bit more?

If so can you do this yourself or do you need a specialist?

mdj1, Hi.

I would suggest that you contact the local to you Health and Safety branch?

Why because if you get "from the Horses Mouth" what you can and cannot do as regards this issue, then in the future you are clean and clear? you have conformed to the H&SE advice

At the same time ask the H&SE exactly what type of spray they would approve to [spot your BUZZ word here] to "ENCAPSULATE" the asbestos cement boards and give the best thermal efficiency.

Last time I checked on the H&SE web pages it was banging on about "ENCAPSULATION" especially in "commercial" properties.

As an aside your "Building register" will require to indicate that the roof is an ACM [asbestos Containing Material] log it BEFORE you contact the H&SE !

Lets see what others in here think?

Yes we know that "White Asbestos" in Cement sheet is a very Low risk. BUT?

It just happens to be a "LAW OF THE LAND" that certain procedures are MANDATORY?

Regards.
