Foil backed plasterboard and building control

In a one storey new extension is it a requirment to have foil backed plasterboard on the ceilings?
Or can you just use normal?
Does it cut down on mould on the ceiling?

It's not a requirement unless you have to meet certain U values. As for the mold issue that depends. The cder the surface compared to room temperature the more likely it is to hit due point and so become wet and so encourage mildew and mold etc.
