While I was away builder put foot through ceiling of lounge from bedroom above where floorboards were being repaired

Edwardian house, lime plaster and lath ceiling

He says he can put up plasterboard and skim to patch the hole.

I am concerned for the integrity of the ceiling, now that it has been stressed.

How do I know this patch is sufficient and that there is not hidden damage.

Should the lime plaster round the hole be reinforced? What do you suggest ?

Many thanks

He just cuts out the damaged area, battens across to support the new plasterboard, attaches and tapes the joints and then skims. There is no real stress to worry about. As long as its taped it will be ok.
