Hello,
I am removing a load bearing wall and replacing with steel beam and timber posts which have been calculated by a SE. They advised I create 450 x 450 x 300mm deep footings for the posts. They have not seen the floor.
I have began to excavate the existing concrete floor to create these footings however currently the floor is 70mm of screed, 180mm of concrete and then DPM. To avoid digging an extra 50mm through the DPC do you think I could just replace the screed with concrete so I would have a 250mm deep concrete footing? Are there any other options? I don't mind digging 300mm and replacing the DPM but I wasn't sure if there was a better option?
