Hi all,

I have a 220v 3A footswitch which I'd like to use to switch a trailing socket
which will then power a Dremel multi tool. (yeah, I know, I'm lazy...)

Trouble is the wiring for the switch has me confused.
It's a momentary switch but it's wired 4 core.
Brown, Blue, Green/Yellow and Black.
Live, Neutral, Earth & switched feed?
Ok, so first guess is Black is the switched feed, so to confirm I tested it.

On a continuity tester, with the switch activated Brown & Black are connected, as I guessed.
But with the switch un-activated Blue and Black are connected?

How should I wire this to mains and trailing socket?

Line from the supply - black on switch
Line to the tools - brown on switch

Neutral from the supply and the tool connect together in a separate terminal block (do not connect to switch at all)

Earth from the supply and tool to green/yellow

Thanks for your help.

That was my plan.

But can you tell me why the black switch
wire would feed the neutral wire in the switches off position?

And that blue wire is gonna be live everytime you take your foot off

That will work but as 333rocky333 said
that blue wire is gonna be live everytime you take your foot off

If you put incoming live on the brown of the switch and use the black as switched live to the equipment then when you take your foot off the switch the live (on the normally open contact ) is not connected to any other wire.
