My T reg Focus 1.8 dsl turbo has been very reliable and completely rust free, until now.
Engine cuts out and after sitting a few minutes starts ok and runs for sometimes a mile and cuts again. Local garage has diagnosed a faulty fuel pump and to replace pump etc will be anything from £700 to £1400.
Local breaker not keen on supplying fuel pump but happy to supply complete engine for £450 with short warranty. I plan to remove fuel pump and fit to sick Focus, will it be compatible . I am open to sugestions and advice

I would suggest you try a local diesel pump specalist (the sort of place who repair truck pumps and injectors) If i remember correctly T reg will have a cable controlled pump and a repair should cost less than £450,
Does the car start up immediately ? If so it might be a faulty stop solenoid (cuts of fuel when you turn off key) but i think on this model it will be linked to the immobiliser
Diesel injection specialist would give you a better diagnosis than your local garage (alot of garages don't like working on diesels)
