I have a Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI 1999.

If i press the brake pedal twice in succession, the pedal becomes hard.

We have checked the fluid and all is ok.

A mechanic said it was the characteristics of the car, as he has worked in a ford dealership before.

Its not a real problem in normal driving, but if you brake, off and on again quickly, you do have to be quite forceful??

Any Ideas

Regards

I don't think that the information given by the mechanic is correct, you have dangerous car, it's probably a faulty servo. You should be able to get at least 4 pedal applications before you run out of vacuum.

could be the vacuum pump or a vacuum leak on the pipe to the servo. both common galaxy/sharan faults. would suggest getting it checked out as you could possibly loose all servo assistance.
