Don't usually post disasters, but I've had a small central leak the past couple of weeks: started off losing 0.5 bar a day, then progressively more. No visible signs... was starting to suspect the cylinder coil.
Anyway, was determined to find the leak this morning (pressure was down to zero) so I filled up to 2 bar, and then there was an almighty bang, a gush, and sudden loss of all pressure as a 50 year old 1" compression elbow (that I previously did not know existed) parted company with its pipe behind some boxing in.
Had a look at the offending pipe afterwards, and it had been cut at an angle, olive not in contact with half the pipe, but had been 'fine' for 50 years on a previously vented system.
