Free Standing bath taps

Hi, Im having trouble getting the upright pipes to fix to the bath taps without leaking, the bath taps have the usual threaded tails and the stand pipes tighten onto these. Tried using plumb blue, ptfe tape and a combination of both, it seems like the threads are so tight it just pushes the tape/compound out when tightening the fitting. Any ideas?

Make sure you get the correct sizes though.

Have you got the washer in the tap connectors? Often they are broken or missing, or it they the tap connectors are being reused you should put in new fibre washers for a trouble free job.

Are you tensioning the PTFE tape as it is applied and putting it on the correct way (eg: same direction as connector screws on)
