Hi I hope someone can make sense of this, I have just put in my new shower valve which has got plastic tap connector type fittings for the hot and cold inlets. I put PTFE tape around the plastic threads before attaching plastic elbows. Turned on the water and both elbows are weeping. Tightened them (not too much) but its made no difference. The elbows are designed to be water tight when tightened just by hand.

There is no mention of PTFE tape in the instructions, so are you not supposed to use PTFE tape on plastic thread and plastic fittings? Could this be the problem??

Hope someone can help!

Ignore my earlier post. Like a complete idiot, I had not added the washers to the elbows.

I know, I'm an idiot lol

Don't use PTFE on plastic threads. The threads don't cut into the tape and the whole thing can 'pop off' at some future date. I'd remove it if I were you.
