Hi all
We've just bought a new house and we need to get new appliances for the kitchen. As we're off mains gas we're looking at getting an induction hob, and need a new oven as well. The work surface where the hob would be mounted is broken so also needs replacing. However it is only a short section, so I was wondering if instead of buying a separate oven and hob it might be easier/better to buy a free standing cooker and not bother with the replacement work surface. The downside appears to be the very limited choice available, Beko, Stoves and AEG appear to pretty much be it. Is there a substantial difference between separates and free standing cookers (ala hifi gear)? I realise that some induction hobs have very specific requirements about clearance if an oven is mounted below them.
