French Door Threshold Options?

I dislike a full frame threshold for a upvc door.

It creates an awkward step for people to step over, often gets stepped on and becomes a bit of a weak point.

The flat flush aluminium thresholds are better but seem to be liable to not seal fully and can often wear quickly (from what I am told and have seen).

I have also seen that there are low rise aluminium and upvc thresholds. The former looks the most attractive option. I was just wondering how available these are when fitting a french door.

Should I expect these as an option? Are there any cons to the "super" low rise ali threshold?

I have never had any problems with leaks from the major brands.
Aluminum wont get cracked and smashed by foot traffic but can suffer from condensation and the doors will need a bit more adjustment during their lifetime due to reduced margins.

Another option can be to use a full or low PVC threshold and remove an extra brick below to sink the door down. Maybe combined with an aluminum strip to protect the threshold.

I would assume that most installers should be able to offer any of the options I have listed? Or install an aluminium protection slip with a low PVC threshold if requested?

All 3 thresholds are pretty standard but not everyone will do threshold protectors.
