Fridge cold and warm problem

My fridge, which is about 8 years old, has suddenly developed a problem with temperature control. Sometimes items put in the lower part of the fridge freeze over while things at the top, like butter, are almost liquid.

We have altered the temperature control but this has made almost no difference.

Any ideas what is wrong and what I can do about it?

Ruskin, I have been asking the guys in here for help over several years, and I just KNOW someone will be able to come up with an answer to your problem.

Come on chaps, what could cause variations in temperature in a lady's fridge? Christmas is coming on and food could spoil. Little kids could be crying ... where's that expert bloke when you need him?
