Check that the thermostat is properly set.

Otherwise, it's not practical to mend a domestic fridge, Breezer is straight to it.

BTW Integrated ones are usually more expensive for the same quality.

Sorry to disagree,chaps,but the cost of a new integrated fridge is exhorbitant compared to a free standing one( at least double) I have replaced the thermostat on my zanussi quite simply & at a cost of about £15 so it is worth establishing if that is all it needs. If the compressor is not running it is a fair bet that it is the thermostat(thermocouple) faulty but the only way to know for sure is with a multimeter

thanks for that. took breezers advice and bought a new fridge,freestanding. £100 cheaper than integrated. why is that?

integrated anything is made differntly.

fridges normaly rely on convection to remove the heat from the "coil" at the back, this is fine on most fridges since there is a gap between the the top back and the wall (usually a plastic plate stops it going too the wall and said plate has holes in it to allow convection)

Integrated fridges cant have this since there will be a worktop above them so they are designed slightly differntly.

sorry i don't know exactly how as i never did fridges at HP, but its what those who did fridges told me, and i never thought to ask any more
