I have a whirlpool front load washer on a pedestal that moves across the room after a few washes. It can move out 3-4 inches each wash. It is level, I checked that. Is there any way to stop this or any device to hold it in place? I don't want it to pull my drain hose out and flood the house! Thanks.

What sort of pedastal is it on? Does it shake excessively during spin mode?

The machine may be level but ensure that all four feet are firmly on the ground. Walking is a balance problem.

I'm not sure what sort of pedestal, just one from whirlpool that has a drawer on it. It does shake a lot as it spins very fast during spin mode which I'm assuming is when is starts to walk.

So are you saying it is fixed to the pedestal & the pedestal moves with the machine? If the machine shakes violently then as sleepyhead says you have a balance problem, dampers or drum bearing, if it vibrates as it has from new & is on a slippery surface then you need to mount it on some non-slip surface(rubber mat etc.). You say the machine is level so I presume you mean side to side & forward/backward, but it does not need to be far out of level front/back for the machine to move & it may be worth double checking.Sorry but that is about all I can think of.
