A colleugue has come home from holiday to find his central heating system has frozen. Some of the radiators have burst, leaked, then frozen again, and remain frozen. The boiler expansion valve ( looks like a knee joint?) has burst. The heating was left on but obvioulsy not enough. A thaw is not likely in the next few days.

What can he do now till he gets a plumber sorted? Its a sealed system.

Whats the most likely outcome? A whole new system? Is the boiler likely to be goosed?

drain any water that will come out ...and put loads of towels etc. under rads that show damage ...then when they thaw  turn the valves off @ each end too. ....Get onto his insurers .
