Hi All,

I asked an architect to do my full plans drawings a few months back. He sent them direct to me as I was not sure when I wanted to submit them.

I decided to send them myself a few days ago.

I received a letter from the council that I also had to fill in a form.

I could not find any help notes for that form.

I was not sure about a few of the questions.

1. If new building or extension please state proposed use:
(I wrote) Extension (to a dwelling house). [New living room and dining room].

(I was not sure what to put for proposed use)

2.
Table type: Table B
Number of dwellings: 1
Floor area (m²): 40
Estimated cost: 30000.00
Number of installations: 1

I looked at the tables and B seemed the appropriate one.
What does number of dwellings mean? Im just extending the back and the side. When would you have more than 1 dwelling? If you were making self contained extension?

The floor area I worked out was that of the new extension, not the whole house, is that correct?

What does Number of installations mean?

Thanks

Just phone up Building Control and ask them for some help filling out the form.

1 = domestic. Nothing else.

2 = 40 m2 (if that's the internal floor area of all storeys of the new extension).
Nothing else.

If you paid the architect to do the drawings he should fill in the application form for you for no extra charge or tell you how to fill it in. Just give them a ring and ask them.
