After Prince Charles’ Clarence House found out that Australian broadcaster ABC planned to run a satirical commentary of the Royal Wedding alongside the regular feed, Charles demanded ABC cancel the show, and then ordered broadcast suppliers BBC, Associated Press, Sky and ITN to cut off the feed to Australia, a command which they instantly obeyed.
That’s right – the Royals have the power to enforce media embargoes between Britain and other major countries of the world. If this doesn’t indicate how much influence and power they still retain then nothing does.
The Royal Family threatened to deny Australia’s national broadcaster access to the Royal Wedding after they announced plans to run a satirical show called Chaser, which would have featured comedians providing light-hearted commentary over live pictures of the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Isn't Australia still linked to the UK, they have the UK flag on their own flag, and sattarists (sp), are always taking the micky out of the Royal Family, in gameshows, like Have I got news for you? Maybe that was why that show wasn't aired, and a repeat of an old show took place..

Democracy in action. These inbred German/Greek royalty of ours! Gawd bless 'em...

What was threatened was to cut off free access to the pictures. ABC were told that if they wanted to use them for a purpose other than that for which they were provided, then they would have to pay for them.

Not sure why foreign and commercial broadcasters - all of whom were making huge sums of money from their advertisers during their coverage - shouldn't have had to pay for the TV rights anyway!

It's called a fear of somebody putting a block on when the subject of the honours lists rears it's ugly head. The top nobs of these companies don't want to risk their knighthoods do they?

The Queen has the power to overthrow a high court decision , thats power right there.
Thats very dangerous power right there in the hands of a senile old woman, as the inhabitants of Diego Garcia were unfortunate enough to find out.

There's been younger people than the Queen doing countless senile things.
In any case I doubt the Queen would exercise her powers without sensible advice. Preferably from people other than slimey politicians.

bliar and his witch wife were notable exceptions at the wedding. Hardly surprising since they could never hide their republican tendencies and never respected Royal protocol. But then their catholics so no surprise and bitter ones at that.

Do you have evidence to prove that this is true, or is it just some internet hoax?
