Planning to install a 1.5 kW Varme cable type electric UFH system under a tiled kitchen floor. The manufacturer advises connection to the ring main via a fused spur. Now my existing electrical system was updated approx 10 years ago with a split load CU with RCD on the ring main. As there will be many electrical system changes and updates in the future as part of a current house refurb and an extension (full plans building regs approval passed last year), these changes will obviously have to comply with 17th edition regs. Will a 13A fused spur from the existing ring be suitable and comply with the latest regs, or will it have to be wired directly into the CU with it's own MCB?

Many thanks.

The underfloor heating will require an RCD and you already have one for the sockets so a fused spur off the downstairs ring would be favourite.
The RCD will cover the relavent changes in the 17th for this bit of wiring.

Don't forget that this electrical work (in a kitchen) is notifiable to your Local Authority.
