hi, I currently have a 2kw plug-in radiator plugged in and switched on for four or five hours a day.

As this isn't a long-term solution I want to replace this with a wall-mounted convector heater (1.5kw) and just wanted to know if it is ok to turn the single socket I currently use into a fused spur and wire it in to there?

Do the proper job :D The new heater is fixed equipment but not sure if the circuit:
1. is a ring or
2. radial or
3. whether the circuit is wired correctly.

In answer to your question, yes it is ok as long as 1, 2 & 3 are in order.

The recommendations are that loads above 2kW are supplied on a dedicated circuit so you should be fine.

A ring final circuit must not supply an immersion heater, storage heaters or a cooker rated more than 2kw. p362, 433.1.5
