Gainsborough shower 'leak'

Been to see a leccy 8.5kW Gainsborough today.

Water pouring from an 'aperture' immediately above the flex hose fitting.

Am I right in thinking this is a pressure release, and what's likely to have caused it to blow ?

There' nothing there now - just a round hole !

Yes the rubber ball on the prd has blown out.
Cause - sudden burst of cold mains pressure, blocked/restricted shower head, kinked or collapsed inner shower hose.
