Has anybody heard of a problem with electrical wires staining galvanised steel. There is a steel beam that has been galvanised with electrical wire running along it. In some places there is a white stain on the steel. Can't figure out where it has come from, only place i can think of is a reaction with the electrical wire.

Anybody any ideas?

Cheers,

Suzanne.

Could it be condensation/moisture trapped behind the cable or 'wicking' along a small gap between the cable and galvanising, leaving a white oxide layer on the zinc?
