Laid a composite deck in my back garden 9m x 4m. However now the gaps are all uneven! They were even to start with and will expansion they are all uneven now.

what did i do wrong? How do i fix to ensure they will always stay even??

Reposition your furniture.

Seriously though, I'd like to know how that has happened, and how to prevent it as I'm planning some composite decking myself and wouldn't want that.

Not really much you can do about it, other than lifting them up and repositioning them.

Doing so while shrunk will mean they only expand at the ends.
