Garage d/board

I need to mount a 2way d/board in my garage, can this be mounted on wood? It is very awkward with the uprights positioning to get a secure level fix for the board without it. Thanks

Wooden backboards are unlikely to be of significance in an already well-established fire.

I always prefer hardwood though as it's harder to set alight than softwood.
