We have a standard single brick built garage at the end of our garden, on one side is another garage (attached ie like a semi detached house would be) and on the other is a gap less than 2 meters with our garden gate in and then our other neighbours single detached garage.

We would like to remove the gate and extend our garage across to meet with the neighbours garage.

It would still be a garage - we are not converting it for anything - but would look at getting larger garage door on the front and a standard 'front' door on the garden side to allow access without having to walk around the back all the time.

Google gives contradicting advice as to whether this very small extension without change of use would need planning permission or not - Can anyone confirm where we stand?

FYI we are in Hampshire, UK if that makes a difference?

AS long as you satisfied the height- and area criteria, that would be permitted development, even though there are shared walls.
