I'm going to build myself over ply - looking on this forum there are a few ways of doing it - with a torch or adhesive. One, two, three layers. I'm more confused than when I started searching!

2 layers with adhesive rather than glue looks suitable. Am I likely to get into trouble not putting the third layer on there? Has anyone done a 2 layer system that has lasted well?

Just done this with 2 layers of felt. It's an incredible mess and hassle. Next time i'd go with an EPDM roof, which probably will give a neater and much more durable result.

As long as you have the torch and bottle (ebay), torch-on is OK and not messy. How does torch-on compare to rubber price wise?

How do you repair rubber if it becomes damaged?

Did you go down teh adhesive route or torch?

Patch it with rubber

How do you repair felt if it becomes damaged? Perhaps use the bottles and torch which you had to buy especially for the job and then store indefinitely rather than sell on?

Mr Woody, I am sorry to observe you are resorting to sarcasm.

I did not ask about repairing bitumen roofing felt - I do know how to do that.

Regarding the rubber, is there a proven method for sticking rubber roofing sheet together on site? For example, you cannot stick 2 pieces of rubber inner tube together with the glue supplied with puncture kits.
