I am planning to get my whole garden fenced off. The issue is that the neighbours hedge is all the way along the garden and it isn’t very private at all and he’s a bit of a nosy bugger so want it to be private. Anyway can I have the fence right up against the hedge or would the hedge have to go completely or can I just trim it on my side?

You can trim up to the boundary of you know where that is (might be where the existing fence is) then you can fence to the fullest extent of your land up to 2m above ground level.
You're supposed to offer to return or dispose of the cuttings.
Is the existing fence owned by you or him or shared? If it's his you can't remove or attach anything to it.
Talking is always the best solution, failing that be careful not to start a neighbour falling out, it happens.
