As above. Go round with a hand fork and remove any weeds.
Go over bare patches with a larger fork, you can just loosen the soil a little by sticking the fork in halfway and rocking it back and forth.
Make lots of light puncture marks with the fork.
Sprinkle your seed all over, rake some topsoil over the top. Water regularly. If it's an area with poor drainage consider adding some sharp sand mixed in with the topsoil.

Watch daniel hibbert lawn expert on you tube. Dont do anything other than aeration and weeding until easter. The ground is too cold at the moment.
