[I think this is the right forum for this post, but am happy to be moved if not].

I'm interested in getting a small office built in my garden, and due to the normal time/money constraints, I'm now looking at some sort of 'log cabin' or similar timber thing.

I really only need something the size of the spare bedroom I currently work in - say an internal space of around 3.5m by 3m, or thereabouts.

One requirement is that it should be reasonably sound-proof - not to recording studio standards, but it would be good to have something at least as sound proof as a normal brick-built house - i.e. I'm not just looking at a garden shed, but something that's going to be quiet to work in.

There seem to be hundreds of companies offering things, so my questions are: Has anyone got any recommendations? Good/bad experiences? Comments and suggestions?

All feedback and ideas appreciated.

We're looking into this at present and I think we have finally decided to go with a local company that makes garden houses and can spec them up to "home office spec" as they call it

The building we are going for is 4.5m x 3m so maybe slightly bigger than you are after but they will do whatever size
The spec includes 21mm external cladding (shiplap) that is tanalised, 50mm insulation in walls and ceiling and internal cladding or boarding as you wish. Roof shingles rather than felt and decent 3 x 2 framing.
They offer various styles and the prices are fully installed and treated with colour of your choice for around the £3k mark in our case

Do a search on google and I am sure you will find local manufacturers near you as that's how we found ours , but the one we are using in Essex area is tiffins garden buildings for reference

We also looked at a large number of log cabins and the one that seemed to come out best price to quality wise was the Lugarde range in 45mm logs and they do bespoke ranges - various companies stock this so contact a few to get best price as it varies massively for same building
