Sorry if a daft post but just wanting to ask if anyone else has come across my situation and found a solution.
Recently bought a house and all the garden areas and drive are red stone chips, but over time a lot of dirt, soil and debris has got in amoungst and it looks quite dirty and clogged, and rising dangerously close to dpc (presume previous owner just kept topping up). I was looking to find a way to clean and filter the dirt and debris away and keep the chips. Anyone done this? Good or bad experience, and any suggestions? Thanks.

You really ought to shovel it up, lower the ground level, and put down landscape fabric.

Then, tumble the stones in a mixer with water, pour the water off and it will take the dirt with it, and relay them

You can get a trummel (drum sieve) to tumble the stones in, and separate the fine dirt through the sieve, but they are not widely hired.
