Garden soil/surface/loan improvement advice needed

Hello everyone,

Apologies I am new to gardening and wondering how can i improve the look/state of my garden loan (pictures attached). It seems to me at least half of the garden surface is now covered with some sort of weed that for me does not look like a grass.

Would appreciate any advice. Thank you very much in advance.

That isn't really a lawn any more. You can't do much with it at the moment because it doesn't have enough water to survive. In the autumn I would scarify it and reseed it. When you mow it next year adjust your mower to it's highest setting rather than scalping the grass on the lowest setting, this helps the grass to survive dry periods. While the area is used as a playground and covered up with various play equipment it isn't going to look good. A weed & feed product applied twice a year will help the grass to defeat the weeds.
