Hi All

I'm planned to build a garden wall in Bath Stone blocks about 1m high. ( 3 courses ). I have alot of large blocks which were left over following a partial demolition of part of the house.

We're happy for the wall to look rough and ready so I'm happy that the blocks are not exactly dressed square. It's only a garden wall....

So the question I have are ;

1) Bath stone is usually laid with a light color mortar(lime mortar) . Any ideas on a suitable mix for this ? Do I use the same mix for everything or use a standard sand+cement to lay the blocks and point in with the light stuff where visible ?

2) Any tips on working with such large blocks? Some are very large and 2 people would struggle to lift them. My wife's complaining already !

Thanks

wert
