I have a simple wall mounted gas boiler - servowarm
which has an integrated CE pump
NO water is needed off this boiler and thats provided on a seperate boiler elsewhere in house
NO hot cylinder required

very small - 6 rad system - small Victorian house

I need to replace the boiler , it wont light today, electric and pilot light OK and the pump has been very noisy lately

Waiting for a plumber to call round - but in the meantime - doing some research on a replacement boiler

its wall mounted on an outside wall towards the ceiling and with the flu going straight out
it also has the circulating pump in the boiler case - so I would need to have that on the new boiler
simple timer - on / two timed on-off / off

any recommendations

Thanks - so the pump is external to the boiler - just looking at how that would work - as the pipe work is through the ceiling and straight into boiler -
so the boiler would need to be lowered and the flue changed just to get the pump somewhere

thanks - I'll look up on the web costs etc

Get an Intergas or Atmos system boiler, the pump is built in and can be used as an open vent or sealed system.

Thanks - I have spoken with Atmos and they suggest the intergas 18KW
works out retail - Boiler 950+ flue 80+ clock 25 + VAT

Trade would get a better price , and I have a plumber coming later today
Just wanted to be prepared on price - last time I purchased a heating boiler I paid well over the odds

I wonder what people think of this boiler

http://www.heatandplumb.com/acatalog/Biasi_ActivA_18S_System_Gas_Boiler.html

Just under £700 including VAT, flu, timer

wow - that was expensive

talking £3,500 - apparently the solenoid valve has gone on the old boiler
but he was not interested in looking at really

now the flu has to go up the wall as we have a neighbour 1m away from the outside wall

cant use a pressurised system without a lot of changes and the pump will need to be boxed in.

the gas supply changed
and has to vent into a drain !!!!!

the valve is nolonger available
part numbers on the assembly

Old system flushed out
3-4 days work

The Atmos/Intergas can be used as an open vented system boiler with the pump in the case.

Where abouts are you ish, we may know a good guy that can price it.

thanks - whats the pipe size now for gas main to boilers
and also do they all need to be vented into a drain

I have called a few of these companies and not really got into all the technical stuff yet

he only uses Worcester/bosch boilers

I just manged to get through to intergas - and they confirmed everything the plumber said - needs a vent to some form of drainage , the flu may need to go vertical for a bit as near neighbours and building controls
22m gas pipe etc etc

not something i needed while out of work

so will go with the guy as we have used in the past and hes been good

Not at that price he isn't.

Not even giving you a choice of boiler etc.

Yes you need to drain pipe for the condensate, and thats better going to an inside drain.

ok - may get another quote then

Leatherhead/Epsom way
if you know someone who is good

we have a drain just at the inside of the leanto where the washing machine goes - so thats quite easy to pipe out to

all the GAS pipe needs to be changed from the supply for 22mm - from the meter it goes upstairs into a cupboard , then through the floorboards- which is all open floor boards - no carpet

space is a big issue here and we have an unused chimney breast, t the side of the boiler in the alcove - that's 110cm high by 80cm and suggested it could go in there - BUT that was going to cost - an extra £400/500 just to put the flu in, and then the cost for all the pipework changes

so perhaps we should look to get another quote - problem is knowing someone who is reliable

so will the gas need to be changed anywhere else for the cooker and the Ascot type boiler ?

You could look on the Atmos web site for an installer near you.

3 quotes is usual then pick the package you like best, that includes the guy/gal doing the work.

The gas needs to be sized to suit all the appliances, over the length, number of bends etc.
