One of the rings on our gas cooker is not as powerful as it used to be.
The flames don't get as big, even when on maximum setting.

Having it checked as part of yearly service with the boiler but just wanted an idea of what the problem could be?

And whether it's easily fixable or time for a new cooker (this one is quite old)?

Also, if I do end up buying a new cooker, do I need to get a Gas Safe engineer to install it? Expected cost?

Thanks!

have you taken the ring off, and cleaned out all the burned fat and gravy deposits?

is the jet dirty?

The injector ( not jet ) will be blocked. Someone might suggest you take out the 7mm brass injector clean it with a pin, blow gas though the burner to clean any bits out obviously having no for of ignition nearby and then putting the injector back.
Anybody suggesting that couse of action would be completely wrong in suggesting you do such a thing it would be highly irregular to suggest you did so and you need to get a gas safe engineer in.
