Gas fire ignition

Hi
My mum has a ceralis xe gas fire- the ignition is not working and British Gas have been out twice and said they can’t repair as they can’t get the part. It’s only 4 years old. Any advice on why they can’t source the part - I’ve looked myself and they are still selling these fires - pretty useless if you can get spares. TIA

British gas supplier don't stock part probably.
Phone up and speak to gas fire helpline for stockiest and confirm spares are available.
Then look for local person to sort and unfortunately you may need to pay.

Or speak to them, ask if you can order the part for BG to fit?

I don't think BG will fit part they don't supply.

Time to get a recommended independent in, Wildfire need the product and serial number to give a list of available parts. If it's only 4 yrs old and it say needs an oxypilot ignition then I'm sure that'll be available.

Is the gas fire helpline part of British Gas or something different?

The fire manufacturer helpline. They should be able to advise on part availability and stocks

yes they will and depending on what contract the appliance is on and where the part is sourced from they used to reimburse the cost

British Gas is notorious for declaring anything more than about 2 years old as "obsolete" because "parts aren't available". They generally are, but BG can't be bothered to source them.
That's a good reason for not signing up to a BG maintenance plan and instead finding an independent local tradesman to look after your gas appliances.
