Iv just moved into my own house, and the heating is doing my head in. It's all new to me... I have the combo boiler in the loft, the main temp at the top of the stairs and all the rads have seperate stats. With the boiler being in the loft its set to permanent on and just using the stat at the top of the stairs. I have it set at 18c and the radiators are set at 2 (5 being max) anyway.. had the letter welcoming me as a new customer this morning and the meter reading matches the one I wrote down when I moved in... And using the British gas website I put in the meter reading after 5days of living there and it said iv used 30quid of gas! (cooker and fireplace are electric) have I set something wrong? .... Someone at work said the rads are set low, so it will never get to the 18c I have it set at upstairs and because the boiler is on all the time its always trying to reach 18c thus using a shed load of gas? Is this true... Any advice?

You should double check your figures, £30 is a lot of gas in five days, dont forget to take into account your hot water usage, taking lots of showers/baths will run through a lot of gas but £30 in five days does seems excessive,

you will need to play around with the trvs on the rads until you find your comfort level, same with the room stat although my mrs would complain like a goodun if I left the stat on 18. :?
